Bestmarriages.ca was established in 2000 with the vision to make marriage and couples counselling more mainstream and accessible with the best strategies and tools available. Since then we have become one of the largest Specialized marriage counselling centers in Canada. We hope to eliminate the stigma of seeing a marriage therapist by being professional, skilled and making the experience enjoyable. When you come to see a therapist at Bestmarriages.ca you are getting the best care you can possibly get. Darren and Lawrence are not only the owners of Bestmarriages.ca they also are the main representatives for the Gottman Institute in Canada. They are Certified Gottman Therapists, Certified Workshop Presenters, Senior Certification Consultants and Certified to teach the Level One, Two and three Gottman Couples Therapy workshops for counsellors. They regularly put on these workshops throughout Canada. They also put on regular Couples workshops in Canada and have recently been asked to be one of A few Therapists in the world to to present at the Gottman Institute in Seattle, replacing the Gottmans themselves as they are moving out of presenting.
At present time all of our counsellors are marriage specialists, Certified by the Gottman Institute.
The Gottman Institute, which is in Seattle, was created by John and Julie Gottman to help couples who are looking for relationship tools that work and have supporting research behind them. The Gottman’s are respected throughout the world as the foremost leaders of marriage and parenting research; you could say they are the original love doctors. The Gottman Relationship Institute applies leading-edge research on marriage in practical down-to-earth therapy, and trains therapists committed to helping couples. No other approach to couples’ education and therapy has relied on such intensive, detailed, and long-term scientific study of why marriages succeed or fail.
John Gottman was recently voted one of the Top 10 Most Influential Therapists of the past quarter-century by the Psychotherapy Networker. This prestigious award is just one of his many significant accomplishments.
What are the credentials of Certified Gottman Therapists?
Each Certified Gottman Therapist has a master’s level education or above, and has many years of clinical experience. A Certified Gottman Therapist is an individual who has completed the certification program offered by The Gottman Relationship Institute.
