I love to build champions and help people experience freedom in their lives every chance I get.  I have worked with families, couples and individuals since 1988.  As a Therapeutic Foster Parent, I have worked very closely with families to maximize relationship and minimize loss.  As a therapist with individuals, I help people step out of their rut and move on to experience the life they want by learning to understand the stories we tell ourselves.  It is not the events of our lives that are the problem, it is the story we tell ourselves about the event that creates problems.

As a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist through the Gottman Institute, I teach tools so couples can move out of gridlock and begin to feel movement with their perpetual issues, learning to talk about the important things without hurting each other, while also deepening their friendship and connection.  I have presented at 70 Art and Science of Love Couples Workshops and am also a Master Rover Trainer for the Gottman Art and Science of Love Couples Workshops.  I bring positive energy to my work because I believe there is power there to help us change our lives. As well as couples’ workshops, I have presented personality workshops, anger management groups and run advanced skills parenting groups.  I am a certified trainer in Observed Experiential Integration Therapy and specialize in releasing people from the impact of trauma.  I believe that, from time to time, everyone loses sight of the big picture and could use perspective.  There are also times when a complete cognitive and emotional makeover is called for.  My desire is to provide a safe space for people to explore their lives and a compass to move past the hurt to find healing and wholeness.  The goal isn’t to feel better, it is to get better at feeling.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Masters of Counselling.  My experience includes work with CARES Counselling Center in Abbotsford, therapist with the Children’s Foundation in Vancouver, Program Coordinator with Venture Academy, sexual abuse counselling, anger management, stress and anxiety therapy, advanced skills parenting groups.  Other areas of interest include working with women in their search for wholeness, empowerment and freedom. I have had great success working with anxiety and trauma.  Recently, I have been enjoying practicing meditation and mindfulness.

On a personal note?  I have been married to the same wonderful man since 1988, am a mother of five very strong young women.  I love outdoor activities such as off roading, camping and riding my motorbike.  I have a large capacity for friendship, laughter, entertainment and adventures of many types.  I would feel honored to share your adventure, whether it is reaching for a healthier self or a stronger relationship.
