After much thought, consulting and conversation, it has been determined that in order to keep everyone as healthy and free from any exposure to the Covid-19 Virus in Edmonton and potentially Montreal, we are moving the training to a revised platform. We believe that what we have come up with is an excellent option that will work wonderfully, and keep us growing and learning from each other, and will help all of us feel less isolated.
We are very excited to provide the exact same training we would have in person but we will do it live using Zoom for both trainings. You can do the entire training from the comfort of your home and be able to ask questions as if you were there and hear the answers from us and all other participants. As if you were there with the benefit of no travel costs or hotel bills.
This type of interactive virtual conference is made possible because of the modern technology of Zoom and you do not have to be a “techie” to get it. All you will need is a computer and a comfortable chair.
The Response to this new format has been overwhelmingly positive with about 90% of the participants Making the adjustment.
Level 1 Training

- Complete access to an on-demand Gottman Level 1 Certificate 11-hour course led by Drs. John and Julie Gottman (can be viewed and accessed online for future reference) ( this is a 249 USD value that does not come with the normal live trainings. All training videos shown and lectures are yours to keep forever, to review at your leisure. }
- An on-line downloadable 352-page PDF Digital Level 1 Manual including the 63-page PDF Lecture slides. This is also something you get that past clinicians have wanted, and it can make giving handouts to clients easier
- After successful completion of the live online training, you will be provided with a Gottman Level 1 Certificate of Completion making you eligible to proceed to an in-person, or online Level 2
You can print off the manual but it might be easier to have a second device to follow along electronically. It is up to you, but we do recommend printing off all of the power point slides to follow along. It has also been noted that there is a huge advantage to learning to have the material beforehand, which will help everyone be more prepared.

Level 2 training
For those coming to Level two things get a little bit more interesting because we require group work and practice of the skills. Luckily this can also be easily accomplished with Zoom when it comes to group work. There are 9 small group roles plays and exercises throughout the three days. This is simple in Zoom using video breakout rooms where Lawrence and Darren will be able to join these meetings so we can observe the group working.
We will send out a preconference FAQ to get everyone up to speed on how to do this.

Frequently asked questions.
- Is there assignments or tests to complete throughout the training? Yes.. You will have the knowledge assessment with you the whole time and we will make sure every question is covered so that everyone passes the “certification of attendance”.
2. Is there a student rate for combined level 1 and level 2? If you sign up for each one separately as a student. It comes to 1100 dollars. That is cheaper than the combined rate.. so that is what I would suggest.
3. Are there breaks throughout the day? Absolutely, none of us are machines. We will do lunch breaks and coffee breaks like a normal workshop.
4. Do we get the material beforehand? Yes, but we do not expect you to print all of it. You will be given instructions on what to print. We also will be providing a link to the Way we use the material with clients, which will be helpful to follow along with. We do strongly suggest printing off the power point slides for each workshop.
